Reds: The Reds went 2-4 this week, here is a recap of each game below.

6/8 | Padres beat Reds 6-2 | Petco Park

The week started off rough for Cincy, with the Padres dominating their bullpen, putting up five runs in the seventh and eighth inning. The lone positives were a Sal Stewart RBI single and a solid outing from Andrew Abbott.

6/9 | Reds beat Padres 5-3 | Petco Park

The Reds were able to stop their skid in a thriller on Tuesday. Tyler Stephenson hit an RBI single early to take a lead and Spencer Steer added on by bringing in JJ Bleday on a fielder’s choice. The game went to extras tied 2-2. Both teams scored once in the 10th, the Reds score off an Eugenio Suarez RBI double. Sal Stewart hit a two-run bomb in the top of the 11th and Zach Maxwell got the save.

6/10 | Padres beat Reds 5-4 | Petco Park

This was another late game collapse by the Reds, with them starting out hot. Spencer Steer hit a two-run homer to take an early 2-1 lead. JJ Bleday and Eugenio Suarez added solo homers of their own to take a 4-2 lead in the eighth. However, the Reds bullpen collapsed again and Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a walk-off home run.

6/12 | Diamondbacks beat Reds 5-2 | Great American Ballpark

Noelvi Marte got the scoring started with a solo shot in the second, followed by an RBI single by Eugenio Suarez in the third to make it 2-1 Reds. The Diamondbacks put up four runs from there and never looked back.

6/13 | Reds beat Diamondbacks 2-1 | Great American Ballpark

This was an amazing pitching performance from Cincy, only allowing one first inning solo home run by Corbin Carroll. An RBI single by Edwin Arroyo and another solo home run by Noelvi Marte carried the Reds to the win.

6/14 | Diamondbacks beat Reds 5-3 | Great American Ballpark

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo notched his 700th career win behind three home runs (Gabriel Moreno, Geraldo Perdomo, and Tommy Troy). Moreno’s home run in the 8th gave Arizona the lead and they cruised to a win. Andrew Abbott gave up 1 run on 4 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.

The Reds play the Mets and Yankees this week, here is a preview of both.

6/15-6/17 | Mets @ Reds | Great American Ballpark

New York has been struggling greatly this season, as they find themselves at 31-40 (last in NL East). The Mets are only top five in one team stat, at fifth in strikeouts with 640. They also have no players in the top five of any individual stats. However, their main weapons on offense are Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor, and Bo Bichette. Therefore, they have the firepower needed to win games. Last time these two met, the Reds took two of three. They should look to do that again.

6/19-6/21 | Reds @ Yankees | Yankee Stadium

The Yankees are a really good team, as always. They are currently first in the AL East at 42-27. As a team, they are a power-hitting team, leading the league in home runs (100). They are also fifth in stolen bases (68). They also have the second-strongest ERA in the league (3.32). Individually, they have Cam Schlittler (third in ERA with 1.82). He will most likely pitch on the 19th. Everyone is aware of the offensive weapons the Yankees have, this includes Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, Jazz Chisholm Jr, Paul Goldschmidt, and Giancarlo Stanton. The Reds should aim to steal a game in New York.

College Sports

With college sports hitting a bit of a lull, content is crawling to a stop. However, we’ve still got you covered!

Kentucky had the biggest news this week, on Monday announcing that J Batt is taking over as CEO of Champions Blue, LLC, and becoming the UK Athletics director. While at Michigan State, Blatt helped to secure the historic 400M+ gift to the atletics team, founded Spartan Ventures for revenue, GPA jumped up department wide at the biggest rate in MSU history, and in 2025 alone, 8 Spartan athletic teams went to the NCAA tournament. His proven track record and high major success should help keep Kentucky’s athletics towards the top of the country!

Reminder, if you need to review schedules for teams, here’s a great link to hit all of the different area teams!
