After two extremely productive years in Highland Heights, Dan Gherezgher departed after this last season. The Brookfield, Wisconsin native will now head to England where he will look to continue his career growth with the Sheffield Sharks.

Michigan Tech

Dan transferred to NKU from Michigan Tech, where he played his first two years of college basketball. He averaged 12/3/2 in 2023, shooting 39% from the field and 28% from deep. In 2023-24, he averaged 15/5/2 and shot 47%/34%. He departed Michigan Tech and came to NKU after the 2023-24 season.

NKU

At NKU, he averaged 8/2/2 in 2024-25, while playing 20 minutes per game, really coming into his own towards the end of the year putting up 20 points 3 times from February to March. He scored in double figures in 8 of the closing 11 games of the 2024-25 season. In 2025-26, he became one of the focal points of the offense for the Norse, evolving into one of the most trusted scorers on the team. He averaged 16/3/3 while shooting 42% from the field and 37% from deep. His biggest performance in an NKU uniform came in an 88-80 losss to Wright State where he put up 30 points. He put up 20 or more points 23 times last season.

Sheffield

The Sheffield Sharks compete in the British Super League Basketball, comprised of 9 teams. Sheffield won the league cup in 2024-25, and has finished either 3 or 4th in the league in the last 4 seasons. They do not compete in European competitions at this time.

Dan immediately heads to a team who will be competing to win their league this season in England and Dan should be able to contribute from day 1.

As an aside, I’ll have more information soon on the different European basketball leagues, including a quick guide to decipher what they all mean and help explain the structure behind them! I know it’s confusing.
