McCracken County (KY) wing Aaron Adams discusses his recent Northern Kentucky University offer, his versatile offensive game, and goals for the upcoming season.
NKU recently extended an offer to one of Kentucky’s rising young prospects in the Class of 2028, Aaron Adams of McCracken County High School.
The versatile wing has recently become a name to know on the recruiting trail, now holding offers from NKU, Morehead State University and Southeast Missouri State University. Adams brings a unique offensive skill set that allows him to impact the game from multiple positions. Whether he’s knocking down movement jumpers, scoring from the mid-post, attacking off the dribble or finishing with either hand around the basket, Adams has established himself as a true three-level scorer.
Following his recent offer from the Norse, Adams took time to discuss his recruitment, offseason development, and aspirations for the future.
On Receiving an Offer from NKU
Q: Congratulations on the NKU offer! Do you have any plans to visit campus in the near future?
Adams: “I don’t have any current plans right now to visit, but I definitely am going to sometime soon.
While a visit has not yet been scheduled, the Class of 2028 prospect says getting to Highland Heights is something he plans to do in the future as his recruitment continues to develop.
Breaking Down His Game
Q: Watching your film, your ability to score at all three levels immediately stands out. What would you say are the biggest strengths of your game?
Adams: “My biggest strength is definitely getting to my spots in the midrange and being able to shoot over people.”
Adams’ ability to create space and score efficiently from the midrange makes him difficult to defend, while his versatility allows him to impact the game from multiple areas on the floor.
Summer Development
Q: Is there a specific area of your game you’ve focused on improving this summer?
Adams: “This summer I’m mainly focusing on getting my ball handling tighter and getting it on a string.”
Adams continues to focus on development. Improved ball handling could add another layer to his game and make him even more dangerous as a creator.
Goals for the Upcoming Season
Q: Have you set any goals for yourself heading into this upcoming season?
Adams: “My goal is definitely to win the regional tournament.”
Adams has his sights set on team success as he prepares for another season at McCracken County.
Locked In Before Tipoff
Q: It’s pregame, a big matchup is coming up, and it’s time to lock in. What’s your go-to song to get right before tipoff?
Adams: “I actually don’t listen to music. I put both my AirPods in on noise cancellation and silence everyone out and keep it quiet.
While many players have a favorite song or playlist, Adams takes a different approach, preferring complete silence as he prepares mentally for game time.
Modeling His Game
Q: Is there a player you model your game after?
Adams: “I try to model my game after KD.”
It’s easy to see why. Adams utilizes his length, scoring versatility, and ability to shoot over defenders to create offense in a variety of ways.
The People Behind the Journey
Q: Who has been the biggest influence or inspiration in your basketball journey?
Adams: “Definitely all my coaches and my dad have been the biggest influence on me!
As his recruitment continues to gain momentum, Adams credits the people who have helped guide and support him throughout his basketball career.
