Week 7 was an absolutely wild one in the College Football world, with six of the top eight ranked teams in the nation going down. This has completely mixed up the bracket, with multiple new teams joining the field, and a new No. 1 seed. On top of that, we had new entries and exits into our G6 bid contender category.

1. BYU (6-0): The Cougars picked up a monumental win over Notre Dame this past weekend, catapulting them to the top of the bracket. This weekend, they head down South to face off with UCF.
2. Miami (6-0): The Hurricanes snuck by Florida State in double overtime, avoiding a catastrophic result at home. Despite that, they surge up to No. 2. This week, they host the Pittsburgh Panthers, who are without their starting quarterback.
3. Ohio State (6-1): The Buckeyes picked up a massive addition to their resume Saturday, taking down the Indiana Hoosiers on the road. This week, they are on bye. However, a test on Halloween against USC awaits.
4. Georgia (6-1): The Bulldogs lost a heart-breaker against Auburn this past Saturday, dropping them down from the top seed. They have a bye this weekend before their Halloween duel with Florida.
5. Indiana (6-1): The Hoosiers took a narrow loss to Ohio State this past Saturday. This weekend, they head to Michigan for a noon showdown and an opportunity to quickly bounce back.
6. Texas Tech (6-0): The Red Raiders surged up to No. 6 this week after the chaos. Their schedule is relatively easy the rest of the way and if they handle business; they should go 12-0. That target continues this weekend against Cincinnati.
7. Notre Dame (6-1): The Fighting Irish took a tough loss to BYU Saturday, dropping them down to No. 7. They are on bye this weekend, and close out the month against 2-4 Navy.
8. Ole Miss (5-1): The Rebels dominated the Missouri Tigers Saturday, bumping themselves up to No. 8. This weekend, they head to Austin for a big match-up with Texas. The Longhorns are desperate to get back on track, so Ole Miss will have their hands full.
9. Utah (6-0): The Utes have made their first appearance in the field this week, jumping all the way up to No. 9. This weekend, they host Houston for a huge Big 12 showdown.
10. Tennessee (6-1): The Volunteers propelled themselves into the field after a massive win over Alabama. Saturday, they head to South Carolina looking to avoid a letdown.
11. Alabama (5-2): The Crimson Tide took a tough loss to Tennessee Saturday, dropping them to the cut-line of the field. This weekend, they host Texas A&M in a game they have to win.
12. Boise State (5-1): The Broncos are still the favorite for the G6 spot. Read more about their outlook below.
G6 Contenders
Boise State (Pac-12)
The Broncos are the current favorite for the G6 bid. They are now 5-1 on the year, with a close loss to Oregon, and wins over Memphis, South Dakota, Western Michigan, Utah State and Fresno State. The Broncos remain in the AP Poll this week, now up to 21. Their toughest remaining Pac-12 match-ups are against Oregon State and Colorado State. This weekend, the Broncos head to Washington State, who are currently 1-6.
James Madison (Sun Belt)
The Dukes are now 7-0 this season, beating Liberty, Wagner, San Diego State, Old Dominion, Marshall, Georgia Southern and Georgia State. The Dukes have a big one Thursday as they travel to Sun Belt contender App State. Next Thursday, they host Troy, who is yet another Sun Belt contender. All JMU can do is continue to win games and hope Boise slips up.
New Mexico (Mountain West)
The Lobos are 5-1 through seven weeks, with a close loss to Oklahoma, and dominant wins over Central Michigan, Mercyhurst, New Mexico State, UTEP and Hawaii. Looking ahead, the Lobos’ main competition in the Mountain West consists of NDSU, UNLV and San Jose State. New Mexico plays each of these teams at some point this year, starting with NDSU Saturday. If they can take down NDSU, the Lobo CFP hype will continue to grow.
Oregon State (Pac-12)
Despite an 0-2 start to the year, consisting of losses to Houston and Texas Tech, the Beavers are surging. They have won five straight, with those wins consisting of: Montana, UTEP, Colorado State, San Diego State and Washington State. The Beavers are a bit of a long-shot, but they have an advantage over other teams. On Nov. 14, the Beavers get to travel to Boise and take a shot at the current G6 leaders, the Boise State Broncos. Winning this game could turn the G6 race upside down. Before that, they must get through another Pac-12 contender in Fresno State on Halloween.
UTSA (American)
Our newest addition is the UTSA Roadrunners, who are rolling through the season so far, starting out 6-1. Their lone loss is to Texas; their wins are over Rio Grande Valley, Texas State, Colorado State, Rice, South Florida and Navy. They currently lead the American and look to continue that. However, the rest of their schedule is tough. They head to Tulane this weekend, then close the season against FAU, North Texas and UAB.
