Week 6 brought us complete chaos this weekend in the College Football Playoff race!
The biggest game of the weekend was Georgia at Alabama. However, Texas against Oklahoma, Kentucky against LSU, UCLA against Oregon, Florida against South Carolina, and NDSU against UNLV, and Penn State against USC were all monumental results. We also saw Indiana remain undefeated, BYU shine despite injuries, Arizona dominate on the road, Oklahoma State continues to win, USC conquers the whiteout at Penn State and the entire ACC gets chaotic.
Georgia beats Alabama: The Bulldogs become the No. 1 team in the country because of other results around them. Georgia has been the most consistent team this year, and this is the first true test they had this season.
Oklahoma beats Texas: The Red River Rivalry never disappoints! The Sooners win in a classic off of a walk-off field goal! Arch Manning struggled at times Saturday, and threw 3 touchdowns but had 3 interceptions.
Kentucky beats LSU: For the first time in FBS history, a team wins consecutive weeks in overtime by 1! Similar to last week, Kentucky went for 2 in overtime to win. However, this week was against LSU! Suddenly, the Cats have some life in the CFP race.
UCLA beats Oregon: The Bruins are undefeated and now have a monumental road win. They have been compared to Indiana of last year, and that dream seems to be coming true. Oregon’s disappointment continues, and now they are staring down being eliminated from the playoffs with their next loss.
South Carolina beats Florida: All of the country has been talking about how head coach Shane Beamer needed to be fired after the start to this year and last week’s collapse. They responded by defeating Florida 38-19 in Gainesville! Florida now has two losses and it appears their playoff hopes are done.
UNLV beats NDSU: One of the underrated storylines of the year had been if North Dakota State could go undefeated and if that would be enough to push them past Boise State with potentially one loss. However, NDSU dropped a game Saturday against UNLV and the undefeated dreams are over.
