Welcome to the week 6 Heisman Trophy watch! After multiple electric performances and some huge team wins this week, we had a lot of movement around the board. However, we also have a frontrunner who has established as the clear favorite. It’s not over, but Jeremiah Smith’s performances and subsequent records are starting to give him some clear separation.

Jeremiah Smith
This year: 44 receptions, 823 yards, 9 touchdowns
Week 5: 11 receptions, 206 yards, 2 touchdowns
Can anyone catch this man? His last 2: 23 catches, 423 yards, 6 touchdowns! He owns all of the receiving records at Ohio State now (yes, all of them).
Keelon Russell
This year: 94-132, 1,414 yards, 11 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, 37 carries, 184 yards, 4 touchdowns
Week 5: 16-22, 285 yards, 3 touchdowns, 5 carries, 16 yards, 1 touchdown
Russell has led the resurgence of this year’s Crimson Tide squad who dominated Mississippi State on the road this weekend, and improved to 5-0.
Gunner Stockton
This year: 77-102, 1,049 yards, 13 touchdowns, 1 interception, 20 carries for 122 yards.
Week 5: 25-32, 295 yards, 3 touchdowns, 7 carries for 22 yards.
Stockton has flown under the radar this season, mainly because he hasn’t had to play in the 4th quarter very much this year. He’ll likely be playing this weekend into the 4th (barring the hurricane moving the game) when they head to Alabama.
Darian Mensah
This year: 112-133, 1,438 yards, 15 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 12 carries for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Week 5: 18-27, 227 yards, 1 touchdown, 3 carries for 27 yards.
Throwing just 1 touchdown this week made it a “down” week. However, Mensah continues to thrive at the head of the Miami offense this year. Up Next: a bye week and then Florida State comes to town.
Kamario Taylor
This year: 102-154, 1,450 yards, 17 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 43 carries for 159 yards and 1 touchdown.
Week 5: 19-34, 258 yards, 3 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, 6 carries for -26 yards.
Taylor had a rough weekend. However, he is still among the nation’s best in yards and touchdowns this year. The Bulldogs have to get back to their winning ways quickly as it is a winning award.
CJ Carr
This year: 88-124, 1,197 yards, 13 touchdowns, 1 interception, 12 carries, 28 yards, 3 touchdowns.
Week 5: 21-29, 4 touchdowns, 4 carries for 15 yards, 1 touchdown
Carr, similar to Stockton, continues to be under-the-radar this year, mainly due to the level of competition. One more week before the BYU matchup in Provo. Standing in the way is an underwhelming Stanford squad.
Malachi Toney
This year: 39 receptions, 604 yards, 6 touchdowns, 1 carry, 19 yards
Week 5: 5 receptions, 40 yards, 1 carry, 19 yards
Toney is an elite wide receiver, however, with Smith thriving as he is, Toney is being overshadowed a bit. Mensah is also going to make it difficult for Toney as this award favors QBs.
Trinidad Chambliss
This year: 102-144, 1,222 yards, 8 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, 29 carries, 108 yards, 4 touchdowns
Week 5: Bye Week
Chambliss stays about where he was in the Heisman race. He and the Rebels will look to get back on track this weekend vs. Vanderbilt in Nashville.
Jadan Baugh:
This year: 95 carries, 613 yards, 11 touchdowns, 5 receptions, 35 yards
Week 5: 12 carries, 13 yards, 3 receptions, 17 yards
Baugh’s Heisman stock plummeted this weekend, but it’s not over. He is still leading the country in touchdowns, and 5th in carries and yards. He’ll look to bounce back vs. South Carolina this weekend.
