It’s officially Fall, meaning athletics are thriving on Victory Parkway! Today, we round-up everything you need to know from this past week involving the Xavier Musketeers. Starting with Golf!

Athlete of the Week: Ivanna Flores (Women’s Golf)

Men’s Golf

The Musketeers competed at the Bearcat Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday. They finished 17th as a team. Kellen Dean led the Musketeers with a score of 213 (E), and a 21st place finish.

Looking ahead to this week, they compete in the Rod Myers Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

Men’s Baskeball

Practice officially started today, September 21. The Musketeers were thought to be healthy. However, Asher Elson is dealing with a fractured foot.

Rick Broering with @MusketeerReport had this quote from Coach Pitino:

Xavier freshman Asher Elson suffered an injury this off-season and is currently out.

Women’s Soccer

The Musketeers had a great week, winning both of their games. On Thursday, they traveled to Eastern Kentucky, picking up a 2-0 win.

Goals: Frances Reuland (9′), Peyton Kohls (58′)

Assists: Frances Reuland and Breanna Dardano (58′)

On Sunday, they traveled to Southern Indiana, picking up another 2-0 win.

Goals: Brooklyn O’Brien (13′), Maria Tapia (86′)

Assists: Frances Reuland (13′)

They improved to 6-2 on the year.

This week, Xavier opens Big East play at Georgetown on Saturday night.

Women’s Tennis

They competed in a hidden duel with NKU on Friday and Saturday. Xavier did not post results from the duel.

Men’s Soccer

The Xavier men’s soccer team played one game this week, traveling to DePaul for a 1-1 draw.

Goals: Gun Ha Lee (60′ PK)

Assists: None

Looking ahead to this week, Xavier hosts Wright State on Thursday and Villanova on Saturday.

They remain unbeaten on the year at 4-0-2.

Volleyball

On Friday, they hosted Cincinnati for a rivalry game, losing 3-1 (12-25, 20-25, 25-23, 17-25).

Sunday, they bounced back against Akron, winning 3-1 (25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18).

They are now 7-4 this season.

This week, the Musketeers host Georgetown on Friday and Villanova Saturday.

Women’s Golf

The Musketeers competed at the Lady Paladin Invitational Friday-Sunday. They finished tied for third out of twelve teams. Ivanna Flores was the best golfer for Xavier, shooting a 206 (-10) to  finish tied for second.

Looking ahead, they will play in the Fighting Irish Classic on Saturday and Sunday.

Cross Country

Both teams competed at the Rumble in the Fort on Saturday. After a 2.5 hour rain delay, the men and women ran a combined 6K race. The men’s top finisher was Derek Gomez (19:42.10) and the women’s was Amanda Zerhusen (22:42.70).

Baseball

The Musketeers played an exhibition game against Louisville on Sunday at Prasco Park, losing 10-4.

They travel to Michigan State for another exhibition this Sunday.

Men’s Tennis

Xavier begins play in the UTR Sports College Circuit on Friday and plays through Sunday.
