The Southeastern Conference is still nearly perfect, with only 3 teams having dropped a game, including one to a conference opponent. Here is where things stand in the SEC after two weeks of play.
- Georgia
No reason to move Georgia, who have scored 133 total points so far.
- Texas
Texas had the biggest week of any team in the country, defeating Ohio State after completing a 20-point comeback in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Arch Manning was shaky early on and his struggles from 2025 were apparent, but he was critical in the comeback. Running back Hollywood Smothers has settled in nicely for the Longhorns, and scored the winning touchdown against the Buckeyes with 25 seconds left.
- Alabama
The Crimson Tide opened up conference play against Kentucky, and after trailing 17-13 at halftime, Alabama exploded for a 45-17 win. The passing game is still in question, but the running game and defense certainly isn’t, forcing 3 Kentucky turnovers, and scoring 3 touchdowns on the ground. They get the slight edge over LSU due to the quality of win.
- LSU
Three interceptions for quarterback Sam Leavitt, but it shouldn’t be anything to worry about.
- Ole Miss
Up next for Ole Miss is the showdown with LSU and former head coach Lane Kiffin. One of the SEC’s biggest games in just the third week of play
- Texas A&M
- Tennessee
Tennessee’s offense looks great. Running back DeSean Bishop may end as the SEC’s leading rusher and quarterback Fazion Brandon is doing enough.
- Missouri
- Auburn
- Florida
- Mississippi State
The competition hasn’t been amazing, but quarterback Kamario Taylor looks like a star, throwing for 581 yards and 7 touchdowns already, piling on 145 yards rushing and a rushing touchdown as well. The Bulldogs play South Carolina next in what is a big test for both teams.
- Oklahoma
Hard to put Oklahoma any higher. The defense is still one of the best in the country, but the offense is worrying, and a bad loss to Michigan is going to kill momentum with Georgia and Texas lurking to end their September.
- South Carolina
- Kentucky
Kentucky needs to play a second half. If they can play a full game of football, they can climb the rankings quickly.
- Vanderbilt
- Arkansas
Arkansas hosts Georgia Saturday, a great chance to flip the script, but certainly not an easy one.
