Athlete of the Week: Jose Pedro and Ekene Okeke (Men’s Soccer)

Men’s Soccer

The squad took on Northwestern on the road on Monday, winning 3-2. The Muskies jumped out to a 3-0 lead and were able to hold on.

Goals: Elly Detty (4′), Ekene Okeke (26′ and 47′)

Assists: Gun Ha Lee and Jonny Mennell (4′), Ryan D’Urso (26′), and Alejandro Silvestrini (47′)

Friday, the squad took on Bowling Green. They won 2-0, improving to 3-0-1 on the year. Jose Pedro scored a brace, carrying Xavier to the win.

Goals: Jose Pedro (77′ and 89′)

Assists: Gerard Lorente (89′)

This week, the team takes on St. Thomas at home on Sunday the 13th.

Cross Country

Cross Country competed at the Otterbein XC Invite on Friday. The men’s team finished fifth (out of five teams) and the women’s was fourth (out of four teams).

Volleyball

The Volleyball team competed in the Georgia Tech Tournament this weekend. They took on Campbell on Friday, Southern Indiana on Saturday, and Georgia Tech on Sunday.

They beat Campbell 3-2 (21-25, 25-16, 25-22, 22-25, 15-10).

They took down Southern Indiana 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 17-25, 25-18).

Georgia Tech ended the Muskies’ run, winning 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-23).

This week, Xavier hosts their own tournament. The teams involved are Austin Peay, Bowling Green, and Saint Louis.

Women’s Soccer

On Sunday, they matched up with Vanderbilt on the road. They lost 4-1 to the Commodores.

Goals: Peyton Kohls (77′ PK)

This week, Xavier hosts Dayton Tuesday and Western Michigan on Sunday.

Women’s Golf

Golf starts their season at “The Bruzzy” presented by Ashley Herrera this week. The tournament is played on Tuesday and Wednesday.
