Xavier continues their extremely busy recruiting week with Jaydn Jenkins visiting Cincinnati and the Cintas Center. The 6’10”, 220-pound big man has a final 5 of Michigan State, NC State, Xavier, Georgetown, and Ohio State. Jenkins is a Warminster, PA (20 miles outside of Philly) native and plays for Archbishop Wood High School. He plays on Team Final on the EYBL circuit. He’s clearly used to seeing Big East Basketball, growing up close to Villanova and the success of the Wright Era.
Rankings
Per 247 Sports, he is a four-star recruit and is 49th nationally. He is the 7th ranked Center in the class and is rated as the top player in Pennsylvania. Per ESPN, he is 43rd in the SC Next 100, grading as the top player in the state and the 5th highest Center in the country.
NBA Draft Potential
nbadraftroom.com has him pegged as a potential pick in 2028 or 29, highlighting that his growth and potential could see him jumping off the page in college. However, especially in today’s era of NIL, he’s not a likely one-and-done. Jenkins is described on the same site as a “long and bouncy center with great shot blocking instincts and intriguing tools.”
Initial Thoughts
Xavier has been looking for a long, athletic rim protector for several years and bringing in a top 50 caliber recruit would be a significant win. Watching film, what I’ve seen out of Jaydn immediately profiles as a guy who would elevate the frontcourt. As the 2027 cycle progresses, X’s attention is focused on getting frontcourt players and future stars. Jaydn would fill that mold exactly as coach Pitino is looking to do.
Additionally, beating out regional names like Ohio State, conference foes (Georgetown), and elite programs (MSU) for a recruit helps elevate X’s standing nationally.
