Richard Pitino and co. are staying busy this week, hosting two more 4* guards after landing a commitment from 4* Brandon Mason Jr. this weekend. Markus Kerr is currently on campus (visit started 8/26), and Jaydn Jenkins will be on campus starting on Friday. Both are priority targets for the Musketeers who are looking to reload after losing several guys after the 2026-27 season. Let’s look at Kerr today, and we’ll have more on Jenkins on Friday!
Recruitment Background/ Player Profile
Kerr’s visit started Wednesday and will span the next couple of days. The 4* wing is a 6’6″, 180lb product out of Charlotte, North Carolina. He played at Brewster Academy last season, however, he is transferring to Wellington, Florida to play there next season.. He is rated as a 4* in the 247Sports composite, and is 68th nationally. ESPN has him as 98th in the SC Next Top 100. His commitment timeline remains undecided, but it is expected he’ll take more visits before any announcements. He is down to 5 schools, with X being his first OV, but the others are actively trying to get him on campus.
Physical Traits/On-Court Skills
Kerr is extremely athletic and his frame is NCAA ready. As is the case with most prospects, he will need to gain muscle as he moves up to D1 ball, but he currently is used to physicality and size, having played on the EYBL and at Brewster Academy. Kerr’s offensive numbers boast an 80%FT rate, 34% from deep, however, he does not take a ton of shots. He is best off the dribble and has a knack to create his own shot and finish through contact. I watched a couple of his games with Garner Road at the final Adidas event this summer and his rebounding really stood out to me. He put up 10/7/3 per game and is able to grab a board and create transition movement himself. Kerr has long said that Xavier has been extremely active throughout his recruitment.
