Bearcat Football: Cincinnati Officially Names JC French QB1

Wednesday afternoon brought about news (first reported by Pete Nakos of On3 Sports) that as expected, Cincinnati has named former Georgia Southern QB JC French the starting quarterback for the Bearcats.

French, a 5th year senior started the past two years for GA Southern where he threw for 5,882 yards, 38 TDs and 20 INTs all on 815 attempts. He set the school’s single-season completion percentage record in 2024 at 65.6%, then followed it up in 2025 by throwing for 2,929 yards, 20 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions. He also led the Eagles on the ground with 315 rushing yards and a team-high 6 rushing touchdowns.

French is a native of Roswell, Georgia and played his first year at Memphis where he redshirted.

JC has been getting extremely high praise from everyone across the country this offseason, but especially local outlets who have been at practice. French was the clear favorite to win the QB job and has now taken over.
