Redhawk Review: Miami Linebackers 2026-27

The Miami linebacker room is highlighted by two huge transfer additions, both of whom have all-conference first team pedigrees. However, Malcolm McCain, Brock Uihlein, and Christian McKinney return this year to make this LB room 5 deep with proven guys! Here’s what you need to know about all of the LB’s!

Malcolm McCain

McCain is a 6′, 230lb redshirt Junior who played in all 14 games last year, starting 8. He had 73 tackles, 7.f TFLs, 2 sacks and a forced fumble. He played his best game last year against Fresno State in the Arizona Bowl. In 2024, he was academic all-Mac and finished with 14 tackles over 11 games. His massive jump last year puts him in a great spot to be a starter this season.

Blayne Myrick

Blayne is a 6’3″, 236lb transfer in from South Alabama. He is a RS-Senior and was all Sun Belt first team last year with 83 tackles. He had 101 tackles in 2024, including 2 sacks.

CJ Young

SJ transfers in from Kent state after a second team All-MAC performance of 89 tackles, 8 TFLs and 2.5 sacks last year. He is 6′, 215lbs and a RS-Junior this year. Even if CJ doesn’t “Start”, expect him to play starter reps on defense this year.

Brock Uihlein

Uihlein is a 6’1, 226lb RS-Junior who played in 13 games last year, putting up 29 tackles, 2TFLs, and 1 forced fumble. He showed up in a big way vs. WMU in the MAC title game, where he had 11 tackles and 1.5 TFLs. He will look to take another step forward this year and become a key defender for the RedHawks.

Christian McKinney

Mckinney is a 6′, 209lb RS-Junior from Homewood, Illinois. He played in 10 games last year, forcing a fumble in one game, and finishing with 6 tackles, and 1 sack total. He will be expected to take a step up this year and help to anchor this RedHawks defense.

Brody Sink

Sink is a 6’3″, 205lb freshman who comes from Notre Dame Prep in Rochester, Michigan. He was first team all state the last two years and has a championship pedigree (winning state in 2024, 2nd place in 2025). He had 110 tackles, 8 sacks and 14 TFLs in his final high school campaign. He was a 3* and the #30 player in Michigan last year. Used to, he would have been a redshirt candidate, but in today’s world, he’s a candidate to get some reps this season, though, he’s fighting a uphill battle.

Ryan Stolarski

Ryan is a 6’1″, 220lb freshman from Avon, Ohio. He was conference/district/county defensive player of the year, and earned all-state honors. He is a 3* prospect, and will likely have a shot to gain some limited snaps this season to earn his spot.

Vito McConnell

McConnell is a 6’3″, 221lb redshirt freshman who played in 3 games last year. He recorded 1 tackle. In high school, he was a 3* prospect, and the 125th ranked player in Ohio’s 2025 class.

Harrison Brewster

6’1″, 214lb redshirt sophomore, he graduated from Oletangy Berlin High School in Delaware, Ohio where he was a QB and LB.

Luke Myers

A 6’1″, 215lb redshirt senior, Meyers is one of those rare guys who actually stayed at one school for his entire career. He played in 3 games last year before missing the year with an injury. In 2024, his biggest impact was on special teams where he was Miami’s special teams player of the year.

Malik Ray

Malik is a 5’10”, 240lb RS-Junior from Pickerington, Ohio. While he has been in the program the last 3 years, he has not cracked the rotation yet. This year he will look to change that.

Evan Gilder

Evan is a 6’1″, 235lb freshman from Edina, Minnesota. He put up 130 tackles last season and comes into Oxford as a developmental piece.

Seeing this LB room, what do you think? Anyone I’m too high or too low on? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
