Xavier continues to focus on building a solid 2027 recruiting class, and the Cincinnati area has multiple high level recruits. Josh Tyson was already on campus, and now X is bringing Isaiah Mack-Russell on campus for an official visit on September 19th.
He is a 4* recruit per 247Sports, and the 92nd prospect in the country. Isaiah is rated as the 5th player in Ohio’s 2027 class and is a 6’5″, 215lb shooting guardHe is the 2nd highest ranked player outside of SPIRE Academy which is a prep program and recruits nationally.
High School
Mack-Russell transferred into Winton Woods High School last season from Toledo Central Catholic. He put up some extremely impressive numbers, averaging 23.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1 assist, and a steal per game. Russell turned the ball over twice per game last season. He helped lead his team to a 17-0 start and finished 21-2 on the year. They fell to Lima Senior to end the year. He had 4 games of 30 or more points, and put up a 43 point performance against Withrow towards the end of the year. Isaiah also competes with the Indiana Elite AAU team on the Adidas 3SSB circuit.
One thing I’ve seen mentioned in several interviews he has done is that he wants to be a two-way player, focusing a lot on taking pride in his defense. He’s also looking to play a fast-paced game and push the ball, both things Xavier likes to see out of recruits.
Accolades
After this high school season, Isaiah Mack-Russell had the opportunity to go to Las Vegas to participate in the Pangos All-American Camp, giving him the opportunity to go against some of the best players in the country.
Family
His hoops pedigree includes his grandfather Louis Orr who played at Cincinnati Withrow before going to Syracuse and then playing in the NBA with Indiana and New York. Russell has received offers from all over the country, including Cincinnati, Ohio State, Virginia, Nebraska, Arizona State, and many others. He has already been to Virginia and Nebraska.
