Spain became the first team to punch their ticket to the World Cup Final after their dominant win over France. France were going in as one of the flashiest and most dominant teams of the tournament, but Spain were dominant by not being flashy, only conceding once so far in 7 matches.

The first goal for Spain came in the 22nd minute. Left back Lucas Digne tried to clear a ball out of the box, but right winger Lamine Yamal came flying in, and Digne kicked him accidentally. It was ruled a penalty kick for Spain, even if it was accidental from Digne.

Striker Mikel Oryazabal stepped up and scored easily, his fifth goal of the tournament.

France struggled all game to get good chances, especially in the first half. Nothing was getting by the elite Spanish defense, highlighted by another incredible performance from defensive midfielders Rodri and Fabian Ruiz.

Spain’s second goal came in the 58th minute. Right back Pedro Porro found space in between the French defenders, and attacking midfielder Dani Olmo’s pass left him with just the goalkeeper to beat, and he did, making it 2-0. Porro had never scored for Spain going into the tournament, and now he has 2 goals.

France were able to generate a couple of shots on target, but nothing threatening for goalkeeper Unai Simon, another clean sheet for him. Spain will face Argentina or England in the World Cup Final, France will face the loser in the Bronze Final.
