Friday morning brought great news for many Xavier fans, with Tre Carroll announcing he signed with the Washington Wizards for this year’s Summer League!
Tre, a Port Charlotte, Florida native spent 4 years in college, transferring to Xavier after three years at Florida Atlantic, where he took part of the Final Four team for the Owls. At Xavier last year, he averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, a block, and a steal.
At Xavier, Tre joined the line of guys who come in for a year after a relatively low-key start to their career and leave their mark on Xavier nation. Tre’s 30-point performance at Crosstown in December, leading X to a 5-point victory will go down in X lore. Tre put up 14 twenty-point performances last year, including 2 thirty-point games.
Tre left his mark at Xavier last year, and in doing so, he’s earned a chance to prove it in front of all of the NBA teams in the summer tradition that has become NBA Summer League!
Tenatively, Washington is scheduled for 4 games in the Vegas Summer League (all times ET). There will be one more added as well:
- Thursday July 9 @ 9:00 vs. Utah Jazz
- Sunday July 12 @ 8:00 vs. Sacramento Kings
- Tuesday July 14 @ 8:00 vs. Chicago Bulls
- Wednesday July 15 @ 10:30 vs. LA Clippers
Washington had the first overall pick this year and they took AJ Dybantsa (BYU), a generational talent. AJ is set to play in the summer league this year, and every eye in the basketball world will be watching these games. The matchup vs. Utah features pick 1 vs. 2 (AJ vs. Darryn Peterson (Kansas). With that, Tre will have every opportunity to prove it in front of every NBA team!
