Cincinnati’s coaching staff is quickly picking up steam in the portal, and things are continuing to roll. Tyler is a 6’9″ wing with 1 year of eligibility remaining. The Native of Teaneck, NJ averaged 17.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists this year. In 2025, he was named the CAA player of the year, and this past year he was all-CAA first team.
What to Expect on the Court:
This year, Tyler was a bit of a volume shooter, however, he was tasked with carrying a ton of the offense. He shot just 29% from deep (42-144). When inside the arc, he shot 49.8%. He did get to the free throw line 150 times, converting 132 of them, good for 88%. His high usage rate (25.5%), and 35.5 minutes per game help show just how relied on he was this year. He’s also shown some instincts as a playmaker with a 14.2% assist rate. In Coach Calhoun’s offense, Tyler will look to get to the rim at a high rate, and only take clean shots. If he can get to the rim and draw fouls at a high rate, that’s his best area. Without getting too into the weeds regarding advanced metrics, Tejada profiles as a successful high major transfer historically. When you combine his usage and efficiency numbers, he is clearly an offensive power that will make significant contributions this year in Clifton.

Player Comparison:
I try to find players when I’m drawing these comparisons that may show the ceiling, and in this case, I lean towards AJ Storr. Both are downhill scorers who are best when they get to the rim. Both guys are 6’9″ and have every capability to become elite wings in the correct system. AJ was also a prototypical volume over efficiency type of player in certain systems. When he was in the correct system, however, he became much better.
Overall, this is another great addition for Cincinnati and fits the clear picture that Calhoun has for next year’s squad. Paired with Colvin and Allenspach, this team is now coming into clear focus. My apologies for not having Tyler’s article ready. I thought I had a bit more time before the commitment.
