Cincinnati Receives Commitment From Utah State Transfer Adlan Elamin

The Bearcats made a splash with their latest commitment, landing a skilled 6’9″ forward who will transfer into the program after playing under coach Calhoun in Logan. Elamin, a native of Arlington, VA, was a 4-star recruit out of high school and will have 3 years of eligibility left; there is a lot to like about his game!

What to Expect on the Court

2025-26 Stats: 6.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1 assist per game. He averaged 0.5 blocks and 0.7 steals per game last year, while fouling just 1.7 times per game and turning it over 0.8 times per game. While his stat line won’t jump off the page at first, he is absolutely a guy who will develop into a legitimate NBA prospect under the right coach. One thing that stands out to me is his performance against Villanova in the opening round of the tournament. He played 30 minutes, going 4-8 from the field (though, 0-4 from deep), and did hit 5-5 free throws. He finished with 13 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists. This kind of performance should show the upside he brings into the squad moving forward! His shooting splits on the year included 59.6% from inside the arc, 81% from the FT line, and 30.3% from deep.

Comparison

This is the toughest comparison I’ve had to make this offseason, and while that will change I’m sure, I want to do him justice, while not overhyping him. I finally settled on Asa Newell from the 2024-25 Georgia team. Both were long, wiry wings with elite length and athleticism. However, both require strength to reach their full potential. Both were also defensive first wings who had a high offensive ceiling. Of note, however, Newell was a bit more rounded than Elamin is at this time. Reading up on his NBA draft potential and long-term trajectory, there are some NBA pundits who list him as a potential first round draft pick next year (https://edemirnba.substack.com/p/adlan-elamin-scouting-report).

Overall, Elamin is a guy who is still developing into his full potential, and he’s a guy UC will come to love very quickly. Without seeing the full roster play out, it’s near impossible to tell you if he starts vs. comes off the bench, but I would expect him to be a key player in this year’s Bearcat squad.
