Myles Colvin: Meet Your Newest Bearcat

Friday afternoon saw coach Calhoun bring in a splash commitment from wing Myles Colvin! The Indianapolis native was a 4 star recruit who started his career at Purdue before transferring to Wake Forest this year. He is 6’5″, 212 lb wing.

What to Expect on the Court:

He played 27 minutes per night, averaging 11.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He shot 40.3% from the field, 87% from the FT line, and 36% from deep on a high volume, really stretching defenses. He is an extremely versatile defender, with a positive offensive efficiency and averaging 1.2 steals per game. While speaking of analytics, Colvin had a 108.8 offensive efficiency, on a 22% usage rate. Both stats are solid and will translate to the Big 12. Expect Myles to help contribute to the solid defensive metrics Calhoun’s team had this year in Logan. He had a turnover rate of 17.1%, and fouled just 2.1 times per game. He took 164 3’s and 141 2’s last year, while getting to the FT line 115 times. His best performance was a 32/8 performance against Syracuse in February, where he went 7-8 from deep!

Historic Comparison:

Terance Mann from Florida State. Mann is 6’7″, 215, and averaged 11.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 2018-19. He shot 39% from deep and 79% from the stripe. Both are high volume microwaves that can win a game for you, however, both could lose a game if off that night. The key that drew me to Mann is the athletic comparisons. Colvin has explosive athleticism when aggressive. One significant difference here that I want to note is that Mann never got over 100 three point attempts on a year, while Colvin took 164 last year.

Bearcat fans should be excited to start seeing some news roll in today with Colvin, and with there being others on campus right now, and a plethora of guys who UC is connected to, this next week or so figures to be extremely busy!
