2026 Bracketology: Sunday Chaos & Championship Monday

Sunday’s slate

While Sunday was slower than Saturday saw pure chaos, especially in the one-bid leagues!

Bracket games:

Michigan and Michigan State faced off in a battle for the State in Ann Arbor! Michigan won 90-80. Michigan State tentatively keeps their place as a 2, but I will have to fully evaluate once metrics are updated.

Iowa and Nebraska played an overtime thriller, with the Huskers pulling it out 84-75. Nebraska → pretty much locked into a 3. Iowa → remains an 8.

Ilinois survived a scare from Maryland, winning by just 6 in College Park. The Illini are a 2.

MVC

The MVC Championship saw Northern Iowa take care of UIC and lock up a big! They will be a 13 most likely.

Big South

High Point beat Winthrop. I love that we got the top 2 seeds playing against eachother, and the game didn’t disapoint! HPU is a 12/13 with all of the chaos we’ve seen!

Summit

North Dakota State beat North Dakota Sunday night. The Bison will likely be a 14.

ASUN

Queens will be going dancing for the first time ever! The Royals beat Central Arkansas after a chaotic ending to the game. Queens will be a 15/16.

SoCon

East Tennessee State won 69-67 over Western Carolina to stave off an upset bid. Furman beat UNC Greensboro to close the day out, winning by 6.

MAAC

Marist and Merrimack played a classic, but Merrimack held on to win! Siena beat Fairfield by 15. The finals will be on Tuesday at 9:00 on ESPN2.

Big Sky

Portland State beat Idaho State by 7. Idaho and Montana State resulted in xxxxxx.

Patriot

WE HAVE CONTROVERSY! Boston hits a buzzer beater to overtake Navy by a 73-72 final score. However, was there a clock error? Many think there was. Before that game, Lehigh beat Colgate by 7. This championship is on Wednesday night!

CAA

Chaos reigned supreme on Sunday, with both Charleston (Towson), and UNC Wilmington (Campbell) getting blown out. Those were the 1/2 seeds. Hofstra dominated William & Mary, and Monmouth took care of Drexel in a really crazy day in the CAA.

WCC

Oregon State survived a battle with San Francisco, winning 78-76. Santa Clara took care of Pacific in the late night matchup. Expect SCU to go dancing with this win!

Sun Belt

Troy took care of Southern Miss, winning by 8 points to start the day. Marshall and Georgia Southern then played a great game with GA Southern winning!

Horizon

The Northern Kentucky offense unloaded on Green Bay today, resulting in a 96-76 victory for the Norse.

Southland

The tournament kicked off in Lake Charles Sunday! New Orleans beat Houston Christian by 13. Nicholls beat Northwestern State 61-47.

Monday

Today brings us a handful of conference semi-finals, a pair of bids will be sealed, and a bunch of conference action before the p5 kicks off tomorrow!

Sun Belt

Championship Monday has arrived. Troy and Georgia Southern will battle for the crown! 14/15 seed is most likely for the winner. 7:00, ESPN2! We are officially reaching Kemba Walker UConn level of run For GA Southern, who has gone 5-0 this week!

SoCon

Furman and East Tennessee State will battle at 7:00 on ESPN! ETSU is favored by 1.5.

Horizon

Semi-final Monday is here! Northern Kentucky and Wright State (7:00, ESPNU) battle for the third time this year in this bitter rivalry. Detroit Mercy and Robert Morrris (RMU favored by 5.5) will face off in the nightcap at 9:30 on ESPN2.

SWAC

Tournament action kicks off! Alcorn State and Alabama State will get things started at 2:00, before Mississippi Valley State and Grambling play at 8:30. Interesting times in College Park, GA. All games on ESPN+.

CAA

Monmouth and Campbell get the night started, with Monmouth being slight favorites. Hofstra and Towson will battle in the 2nd batchup, and Hofstra is favored. Games start at 6:00 on CBSSN.

Southland

New Orleans and Texas A&M CC face off at 6:00 on ESPN+, followed by Nicholls and UT Rio Grande Valley at 8:30. Expect both games to be close!

Big Sky

Northern Colorado and Montana face off with UNCO being favored by 4.5 at 7:30. Weber State and Eastern Washington will close the night out at 10:00. All games on ESPN+.

WCC

Finally, the ladder is almost complete! Oregon State and Gonzaga kick things off at 9:00 on ESPN. The night closes with Santa Clara and Saint Mary’s playing the 2nd matchup at 11:30 on ESPN2.
