OXFORD, OH — The perfection continues at Millett Hall. Behind a dominant first-half surge and a career night from Luke Skaljac, the Miami RedHawks improved to a staggering 27-0 with a hard-fought victory over Bowling Green State University (BGSU).

The Poise of a Team who has been Here before

The game opened with a statement as Peter Suder nailed a fadeaway mid-range jumper, followed immediately by Miami forcing a turnover. While the Falcons briefly found their footing to take an 18-17 lead midway through the first half, the RedHawks responded with the poise of an undefeated juggernaut.

Miami ignited a 21-5 scoring explosion over an eight-minute stretch, turning a tight contest into a 45-30 cushion by halftime. The RedHawks shot a blistering 55% from the field in the opening frame, including five triples.

The second half tested Miami’s resolve. BGSU’s Mayar Wol sparked a comeback attempt, drilling a three-pointer to trim the lead to single digits (9 points) with under 14 minutes to play. However, the RedHawks had an answer for every Falcon run. Almar Atlason silenced the BGSU momentum with a deep three, and the wagon that is Miami basketball took over from there.

Player of the Game: Luke Skaljac

Skaljac was the undisputed engine for Miami tonight. Finishing with a team-high 24 points, he controlled the tempo and hit timely buckets whenever BGSU threatened to close the gap.

Efficiency Breakdown

  • Miami shot 30-58 (52%) from the field, 13-30 (43.3%) from deep, and 18-27 (67%) from the FT line.
  • BGSU: Struggled early (11-31 from the field in the 1st half) but found rhythm late, going 8-15 in the second half from deep, however, the first half slump (2-10) was too much to get past.
  • The Difference: Miami’s balance. Beyond the stars, contributions from Atlason, and Trey Perry (who hit a clutch three to halt a BGSU run) proved too much for the Falcons to overcome.

What’s Next: The Road to 29-0

The RedHawks take their perfect record on the road next week for a Michigan swing.

  • At Eastern Michigan: Miami enters as a 5.7-point favorite.
  • At Western Michigan: Miami enters as a 11.5-point favorite.

With three games remaining on the road, and just 1 at home, the RedHawks are closing in on a historic undefeated regular season.
