Big East Bid Watch Update

                        By Michael Gross

🔐 UConn

“Near Lock”

St. John’s

“Good Shape”

Nova

“Bubble”

Seton Hall,

“Fringe Bubble”

Xavier, Butler, Creighton

“Near Lock”

St. John’s blew out Butler last week for their 7th straight win. If they can beat DePaul and UConn this week; I think that’ll be enough to 🔐 them.

“Good Shape”

Nova responded from their tough loss against UConn by beating Providence at home. They remain in good shape for a bid, but should they lose to either Seton Hall or Georgetown this week, they might slip down. If they win both; I’ll probably move them up.

“Bubble”

It was not a pretty 2-0 week last week for Seton Hall as they had to overcome halftime deficits in their games against Xavier and Marquette. However, the 2-0 week kept their hopes alive. Now they have to go back on the road to play Nova and Creighton. They really need to get at least 1 of those 2 games.

“Fringe Bubble”

Awful awful week for Creighton. First they got blown out on the road by Marquette. Then the Blue Jays had a golden opportunity against UConn at home and also got blown out. They’ll have to beat Georgetown and Seton Hall just to get back the “Bubble” Section.

Butler also went 0-2 last week losing to St. John’s and Georgetown. They probably have to beat both Providence and Marquette on the road to have a real chance moving forward.

Xavier barely got past DePaul over the weekend. They’ll have to either beat UConn or St. John’s in their upcoming games to have any chance moving forward.
